Hermann Seldeneck

The actor Hermann Seldeneck was a very busy movie actor of the 10s whose film career limited nearly exclusively to this decade.

He began his acting career at the theater in Regensburg in 1882, it followed other engagements in different cities in Germany and Switzerland. Finally he also appeared on stage in the Russia metropolises St. Petersburg and Moscow for a while. When he returned to Germany he managed his path till to the German theater center in Berlin. In Berlin he soon got in touch with the new arising film business and he appeared already in "Schuld und Sühne" in front of the camera for the first time. From 1915 his activities in film continued to expand and his mostly formidable roles entertained large audiences. In 1920 he acted in his last films, he then acted again in the theater before he died in 1922 at the age of only 57.

One of Hermann Seldeneck's ancestors was the famous natural scientist Alexander von Humboldt.
