M. R. Charan Raj is an Indian composer and singer known for his work in Kannada cinema. For his work in Jeerjimbe (2016), he was awarded the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director. Raj trained in Carnatic music with Perumbavoor G. Raveendranath and in Classical music with Neecia Majolly. He also holds a grade eight certificate in piano from the London School of Music.
Though he made his debut in Harivu (2014), his first breakthrough came in 2015 when the album Winds of Samsara won the Grammy Award for Best New Age Album. The album featured him as a vocalist. The year 2016 was a turning point in his career as both his Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu and Jeerjimbe`s music was a chartbuster and for the latter he won Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director. His 2018 projects include Dalapathi and Jeerjimbe. His 2019 releases include Kavaludaari and Avane Srimannarayana (ASN).
