In the years when the death penalty was still legal in Turkey, Arkın was sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit. Cüneyt, on the other hand, was imprisoned in the same prison for a minor injury offense. However, he frequently received solitary confinement for standing up against injustices in the prison. Arkın also visited the solitary cell from time to time. On the day Cüneyt was to be released, Arkın’s sentence was to be executed. Two days before this, the two prisoners were handcuffed together and transferred to the city center. However, Cabbar, the real perpetrator of the crime for which Arkın was sentenced to death, planned an attack on the transfer vehicle to prevent Arkın from speaking before his execution.
