Let the Right One In

Let the Right One In

"Anything for blood."

Mark and his 12-year-old daughter’s lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Locked in at age 12, perhaps forever, Eleanor lives a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the minimal amount of human blood she needs to stay alive.

Should have been called "Let the Woke One In". Yet again, US entertainment proves its far busier pushing the same tired trite social messaging, than actually being entertaining.

Like so so much US entertainment, this sad affair tries to ride the coat tails of someone else's success. In this case a vastly superior Scandinavian film, that is in turn an adaptation of the novel. All the while completely failing to understand what made that film a success.

Its aimless pilot fails to add anything to the underlying story. Indeed, I'd go so far as to say it doesn't even understand the key elements of the original story. Instead, it wanders about being politically correct, whilst boring the hell out of this viewer.

Acting is alright but acting won't succeed if its not built on a solid foundation, as is the case here.

My advice, watch the superb Swedish film instead.
