After the sudden death of ex-Secret Intelligence Service man Alexander, his wife Alison investigates when mysteries from her husband's past come knocking.
I found this mini-series to be interesting and watchable. As with most films or shows that have depth and complexity, I fear some viewers probably found it to be boring. About spies but no action? Shame on them. Mosey on back to the action films or violent fantasy epics.
I appreciate how they handled the complex plot line with the multiple relationships. Especially after I read the Wikipedia entry about Eric and found it totally confusing. Except for when it is done to twist history purposely, I don’t tend to trash films if they change details. Movies have different needs than books or article.
I didn't like the religious aspect in the story. Was the screenwriter aware of the irony of the priest telling Alison she needs to have faith in her husband even without any evidence, and also to have faith in god even without any evidence? Myself, I think she would have been better off as an atheist rather than hiding behind god. But that's me. If that is what happened, so be it.
